1. Our corporation bylaws say that only the membership can raise the amount we pay as assessments to maintain and manage our association.
2. The Board had 4 fees, used to “supplement” the annual assessment and after years of criticism they removed the Vehicle Registration Fee, Golf Cart Registration Fee and the Watercraft Registration Fee.
3. They did not remove the big one – the fee for an RFID tag to get into your property. Although they argue it is “optional” it is still collecting money to manage and provide upkeep for our property and that is an assessment.
4. Since NC State law says the corporation must follow the bylaws, and since they are not, the fee is illegal, plain and simple.
Problem – the people won’t stick together and refuse to pay it. Sad but try, principles are a thing of the past.
